Resources

To empower our community to craft local solutions based on local decisions, we have access to the latest research and information about best practices for collaborating and improving the well-being of children and families.

  • Dive into state and local level policies that affect Georgia’s communities.
  • Check out the Evaluation Snapshot series of research summaries that will help as we plan, implement, and account for effects of our strategies on outcomes for children and families.
  • View or download annual reports as well as compendiums regarding topics like building the path to reading proficiency and addressing low birthweight in Georgia.
  • Check out the Georgia Civic Health Index, which seeks to answer the question: “How do Georgians participate in civic life and what does it mean for Georgia?”

Faith Academy

Stockbridge Campus
This program began as a private Christian school and is SACS accredited. Many students use this program to make up a class they previously failed. Other students use this as their full-time school or to supplement a home school. As a private school, there are fees involved at a rate of about $180 per month for full-time students. The program works by students going to one of the program locations each week to pick up a packet of work. After one week they return their completed work and pick up a new packet of material. Much of the work in this program is fairly easy to do and will require little teacher support for most students. Students must be 16 years of age to participate. Students and parents should make certain that a specific branch of the military, college or technical school that a student may want to attend after graduation will accept a diploma from Faith Academy.

Georgia Virtual School

This program serves as a resource for public, private, and home school students in grades 9 – 12 to take teacher-led, on-line courses that meet Georgia Performance Standards. Students who are enrolled in school can take courses as part of their regular school day free of charge. For students who are not currently enrolled in school, tuition is $300 for a half Carnegie unit and $600 for a full Carnegie unit. Georgia Virtual School is a program of the Georgia Department of Education and as such does not grant credit or award diplomas. GAVS does provide official documentation of the final grade earned for each completed course. These courses are quite difficult and require a student to be very disciplined and self-motivated. There is a high failure rate among students that lack these characteristics.

Henry County Cancer Services

Joanie Whitson
Henry County Cancer Services is a community service-oriented not for profit organization made up of a team of volunteers who possess a passion for cancer patients. They offer support to Henry County Georgia residents struggling from the effects of a cancer diagnosis by meeting the patient at their main point of need: They cover items that are prescribed by a doctor, such as medication, nutritional supplements, and wigs. They also cover doctor bills and mileage reimbursement.Through that assistance, we strive to move cancer patients within our community toward recovery, quality of life, and financial stability.

Impact Academy

Begun in the fall of 2012, Henry County Schools started a new on-line learning school. Impact offers a program of study where students take classes on-line. Currently, Impact is serving students in 6th -12th grades. It is free for Henry County residents. While participating in this school, students may still be able to join in extra-curricular activities at their area public school. Students and parents should note that online learning is difficult, and the curriculum utilized by Impact Academy is rigorous.
